Rita Taggart

February 1, 1930   -   September 10, 2025

Rita Jean Taggart, a beacon of love, life, laughter and good humor, passed away quietly and peacefully of natural causes on September 10, 2025, at the Autumn Lake Healthcare Center in Vineland, NJ. “Rita” as she was affectionately known to family and friends and “Bammer” to her grandkids and great grandkids was born on February 1, 1930, in Trenton, NJ, and grew up in nearby Camden. Rita’s life was a tapestry woven of many blessings and challenges but always lived with an unwavering commitment to make the very most out of her time on this earth.

Rita, was a proud graduate of Camden High School. She furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the NJ College for Women in 1951, which later became Douglass College and is now part of Rutgers University. Though she chose to fulfill her life in the role of a wife, mother, homemaker and friend, her impact on those around her was profound and far-reaching.

The daughter of the late Charles and Violet Brodsky, Rita was a beloved sister to Dr. Sidney Brodsky (Marilyn), Harry Brodsky (Joan), and Charlotte Hankin (Alfred), all of whom predeceased her. She was the cherished wife of the late Dr. Richard Pitel and subsequently the late John Taggart, both of whom helped to endow her with a life full of family, rich adventures, memories and milestones.

Rita’s greatest pride and ultimately her legacy was always her family. She is survived by her children, Dr. Mark Pitel (Ellen) of Bluffton, SC and Carolyn Larro (Anthony) of Vineland, NJ, who continue to embody the integrity and values she instilled in them. Her grandchildren, Dr. M. Robert Pitel, Richard Pitel, Debra Lutsky, and Maria Vena, along with her great-grandchildren, David Pitel, Alex Pitel, Marilee Medero and Sam Lutsky will always remember her for her warm smile, boundless energy and infectious spirit.

Rita faced many challenges throughout her long life but always embraced them with humility, grace and without complaining. Through it all, she never lost her love of chocolate, nor her sense of humor and could always be counted on to share advice when requested or to just listen when someone needed a non-judgmental ear.

She was laid to rest next to her first husband, Dr. Richard Pitel, in a private ceremony in Alliance Cemetery, Norma, NJ on September 14, 2025. Rest in peace, dear Rita, knowing that your final story is written and shared with much thanks, admiration and love.

David B. Rosenberg

1933   -   September 9, 2025

Dr. David B. Rosenberg of Vineland passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 92. He lived a life devoted to family, community, learning and teaching.

He was born in New York City and moved with his parents, Irving and Rose, and sister Judy to Vineland in the mid-1930s. He was a Vineland High graduate, attended Princeton University and NYU Medical School. After completing his medical training in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he and his beloved wife Barbara Spitzer Rosenberg returned to Vineland where they raised their four children, Daniel, Michael, Diane, and Linda. He opened a private practice in 1962 and spent more than five decades caring for generations of children and families. To his great delight, his son, Dr. Michael Rosenberg, joined him in 1991 and the office was renamed Pediatric Associates.

Dr. Dave cared deeply for his family, friends, and community. He was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with them and with his many friends. He served many terms as president of Beth Israel Congregation, Newcomb Hospital, and was on the board of numerous community organizations. Dr. Dave was an empathetic physician and generous philanthropist to countless organizations, supporting a wide range of causes with his time and resources. He actively worked to improve people’s lives and make the world a better place.

He was a lifelong student and teacher. For years, he taught at the clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, sharing his experience and wisdom and learning from medical school residents. He and Barbara traveled the world, often on educational missions to Poland, the Mideast, China, the Soviet Union, the American Southwest, and elsewhere — where he avidly took notes. He was a student of the Holocaust and developed a slide show to share what he learned with others, children and adults.

His interests were varied as borne out by the many collections that fill his study. They include Jewish artifacts, Lincoln and John F Kennedy memorabilia, and antique toys and medicine bottles.

He was predeceased by his wife of almost 70 years, his son Daniel, parents, and sister. He is survived by his children: Michael (Doreen), Diane Strauss (Andy), Linda (Barry), and Julie Kerich; his grandchildren: Zachary (Karen), Rebekah (Ben), Eva, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Jordana, Hannah, Abigail, and Eli; and four great grandchildren: Samuel, Max, Daniel, and Bryce.
